Rubber Queen documents the last six months of the life of 26-year old performance artist & gay activist Adam Gale, who died with AIDS on November 28, 1991. Throughout the course of the video segments, cameramen Chris Belcher and Franklin Wassmer record Adam in the day-to-day challenges of coping with the physical & emotional repercussions of living with AIDS. With honesty & wit, Adam strives to communicate the consequences of his illness -- whether through recorded dialogues and interactions with his family, friends and his care-givers, in-depth revelations directly to the viewer, or the artistic self-expressions of his public & private performances.
